The Lessons of 21 Acres blog was started in 2015 by a group of neighbors who rallied together to save a 21 acre wooded greenspace in unincorporated DeKalb County, Georgia from development. In the process of advocating for the preservation of the forest, these citizens have learned (and continue to learn) a great deal about community activism, conservation, preservation, forest ecology, cooperation, solidarity, listening, collaboration, community, and, above all, the many gifts and pearls of wisdom that a forest has to offer.
Through this blog, a small group of citizens hopes to engage members from neighboring communities and beyond to participate in a meaningful and inspirational dialogue about their reflections on a 21 acre urban forest in DeKalb County, Georgia, which is now Briarlake Forest Park.
